David is a partner in the firm’s Dallas office. His practice focuses on natural resources law with an emphasis on title examination. He primarily represents oil and gas companies in their exploration and production operations but also counsels individual owners and mineral buyers on a variety of matters concerning their mineral and surface interests. Additionally, David assists asset and trust managers with the administration and oversight of the mineral and surface interests owned by their clients. David has accumulated over 20,000 hours examining title, preparing title opinions, and providing risk evaluations and legal solutions for clients’ exploration, drilling, and acquisition projects, covering lands in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Ohio.
David grew up in Szczecin, Poland. He was a law clerk for Freeman Mills PC during law school before joining the firm as a full-time associate in May 2014. David was named partner in January 2022.
Before his career as an attorney, David was the #1 player in singles and doubles on the Southern Methodist University Men’s Tennis Team. He has also participated in many professional-level tennis tournaments and achieved professional ATP Tour Rankings in both singles and doubles. Even now, David still enjoys playing tennis and represents Freeman Mills PC in yearly Energy Tennis Tournaments across Texas and Louisiana.
David is currently serving as the President of the Metroplex Energy Tennis Tournament, a charitable tennis event benefiting the Scottish Rite for Children. He is also in charge of the yearly pickleball tournament organized by the Dallas Association of Petroleum Landmen and is serving on the Board of Directors of the Southern Methodist University Lettermen’s Association.
David was selected to the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars in Energy & Natural Resources in 2023 and 2024.
David is married to the Texas State Representative Cassandra Garcia Hernandez, who is also an attorney and is a partner at Hernandez Law Group, PC.

Examined documents recorded with county clerk offices, the Texas General Land Office, the New Mexico State Land Office, the Bureau of Land Management, among others
Reviewed purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, and pooling agreements
Drafted wide range of curative oil and gas title documents, including lease ratifications, stipulations of interest, assignments, deeds, and affidavits, among others
Advised clients on a variety of agreements including joint operating agreements, oil and gas leases, farmout agreements, term assignments, rights-of-way agreements, and many others
Represented individual mineral and surface owners in a variety of matters concerning their mineral and surface interests
Assisted asset managers and trust managers with their needs concerning mineral and surface interests owned by their clients
